While serving as a volunteer emergency responder is a noble cause that shows a strong admiration for the community, doing so despite everyday challenges takes the situation to a new level.
David Caulfield, who has served on the Seymour Volunteer Fire Department Support Services since 2006, announced his retirement at the SVFD Christmas diner, Dec. 8.
“I have been absolutely proud to serve the community of Seymour,” Caulfield said. “I’ve had the opportunity to travel around the country and show other departments how Seymour does it. There has been no greater honor to me.”
Although Caulfield has put in some hefty service time with Seymour, he is no stranger to the lifestyle of a first responder.
