Ijams Nature Center is inviting residents to celebrate the holiday season with a recycled craft open house Dec. 15.
The event will focus on teaching the art of reusing and turning trash into holiday treasure like such as ornaments, picture frames, candles, and even tasty treats for the birds.
“”We try to reuse and recycle to show that not everything has to be thrown away,” said Ijams Volunteer Coordinator Sarah Brobst. “Participants can go from station to station and leave with a bag full of ornaments and gifts.”
Brobst said some of the craft projects slated for the event include turning soda can rings into large snowflakes and transforming wine corks into reindeer ornaments.
