For many people a dog can be like a family member and keeping that line of compassion alive is a local dog breeder.

Julia Sexton, the second-ever commercially licensed dog breeder in Tennessee, said the main goal of My Puppy Place is to provide an environment that is better for dogs and customers alike.

“By having a variety of dogs I can help somebody make the best choice of them,” she said. “I spend a lot of time talking to people and giving them as many examples as possible.”

Sexton explained there are many considerations a person should make before choosing a pet, such as the size of the home, work situations, and age of children who will be around the dog.
