Drug abuse is a serious problem for many communities and even Seymour has had its share of woe brought on by those who misuse controlled substances.

To further put the pressure on possible abusers who may be working within the Sevier County School System, the Board of Education passed new drug testing policy.

The new policy differs from the old as now any school employee who is licensed to operate a commercial vehicle can now also be subject to random drug testing.

Sevier County Assistant Superintended Debra Cline said the policy basically adds maintenance workers to the list of the rest of school system employees who are and were subject to the same policy.
