Proving once again that Seymour is a community that can work together to reach its goals, Seymour Middle School was named the winner of the Calling All Communities contest Nov. 1.
“I just feel very honored and blessed,” said SMS Principal Faye Nelson. “This is an amazing accomplishment for the community. It was a team effort. I can’t say enough about how proud I am.”
As the number one winner out of 1,368 schools nationwide, SMS was awarded a $150,000 grand prize. The next 17 runner-ups were awarded $50,000 each.
No other schools from Sevier, Knox, or Blount counties were awarded.
