Following the acquisition of a new 22-acre property, Ijams Nature Center will expanding to 300 acres and further enhance the South Loop on Knoxville’s Urban Wilderness.

The new property, which is located between Sevierville Pike and Ijams’ Quarries, is a wooded ridge top in South Knoxville. The additional acreage will help to preserve natural views and provide opportunities for new trails

“We did a thorough inventory of all the land that surrounds Ijams,” explained Ijams Nature Center Executive Director Paul James. “This ridge top is critically because it if was overdeveloped, houses would look down on Ijams. This expansion will help preserve the natural view of the center.”
