Most of the Grand Prix was crushed as a result of hitting a tree (THE HERALD/ JOE KING)

Anybody who was waiting in the line off traffic on Hwy. 411 Thursday morning would a have valid reason for being delayed to their destination as the roadway was packed with enough vehicles to fill the northbound lane from N. Knob Creek Rd. to the edge of Chapman Hwy.
The cause of the halt in traffic flow was an auto crash and the cause of the accident was the sun.
“He was blinded by the sun and he ran off of the road and hit a tree,” explained Tennessee Highway Patrol Trooper Rod Parton, who worked the scene. “It was one of those accidents where the road grabs control of the wheel.”

Parton said the driver’s explanation was confirmed by a truck driver who was passing in the other lane when the accident occurred at about 9 a.m. Oct. 11.

“Nobody was injured,” he added. “The driver was out walking around.”

Although the driver was not harmed, Parton advised the red Grand Prix will most likely be totaled.
