The Tennessee Department of Transportation will conduct a design public meeting Oct. 4 at the Seymour High School, in the cafeteria annex. The forum will focus on the proposed widening of Chapman Highway at the intersection at Macon Lane, a distance of approximately 1.2 miles.

TDOT officials said besides providing two lanes of traffic in each direction, the reconstructed roadway will include a center two-way left-turn lane, shoulders, curbs and sidewalks.

In order to improve sight distance, the crest of the hill will be lowered approximately five feet.  This project will provide for a safer roadway by improving the movements of vehicles into and out of side roads and driveways.

The meeting will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. during which time there will be a presentation and question and answer session.
