Self inflicted mistakes were the undoing of the South-Doyle Cherokee football team’s undefeated season. The mistakes consisted of many penalties on both sides of the ball for the Cherokees as they lost to the Chiefs 17-7 at Cherokee in Rogersville.
South-Doyle (5-1, 2-1 District 2-AAA) failed to score the first half which was very out of character for the powerful Cherokee offense.
“We had our opportunities,” said South-Doyle head coach Clark Duncan. “They’ve got a quarterback that’s as good as they get. We played good defense and moved the ball in the second half. We just didn’t take advantage of what we had.”... read the rest of the story by Subscribing now.
