Self inflicted mistakes were the undoing of the South-Doyle Cherokee football team’s undefeated season.  The mistakes consisted of many penalties on both sides of the ball for the Cherokees as they lost to the Chiefs 17-7 at Cherokee in Rogersville.

South-Doyle (5-1, 2-1 District 2-AAA) failed to score the first half which was very out of character for the powerful Cherokee offense.

“We had our opportunities,” said South-Doyle head coach Clark Duncan.  “They’ve got a quarterback that’s as good as they get.  We played good defense and moved the ball in the second half.  We just didn’t take advantage of what we had.”
