The South-Doyle Cherokees are for real.  They are now 5-0 overall and 3-0 in 2-AAA play as they shut out Carter 23-0.  It is the first time the Cherokees have been 5-0 since 1991.

The Cherokees, who are usually offensive-oriented, became a touch-stingy defensive team holding the Hornets to only 136 total yards.

“The game was won on defensive play,” South-Doyle head football Coach Clark Duncan said.  “Carter has a good group and we came out and stayed focused.”

The tough Cherokee defense not only stopped Carter over and over but also scored after an interception and 80-yard touchdown gallop by defensive back Brody Rollins. It was a great return as he weaved in and out of Hornet defensive players.
