Showing supporting and being active with support are two different things, and Sept. 18 was officially a day in which the service our veterans have given was championed.

An official ribbon cutting ceremony was held for the long-awaited Veteran’s Hospital in Sevierville.

More than 300 people gathered underneath a large tent to show their support, despite the heavy rainfall.

“We have a little bit of rain, but our spirits are not dampened,” VAMC Medical Center Director Charlene Ehret said during the welcoming speech. “We are here today to celebrate.”
