In an attempt to raise funds to prevent a transition to a subscription service, the Seymour Volunteer Fire Department sent out a donation request letter in hopes of offsetting the lackluster numbers received from the last fundraising mailer.

The letter, which is pictured with this article, asked for a suggested amount of one tenth of one percent of the donor’s home or business value, or a flat amount of $127.

Also explained in the letter is the addition of a new database used to record contribution information among possible reasons why donors may have erroneously received the follow-up letter.
