As many Seymour residents know, the Seymour Volunteer Fire Department is consistently short on funding, but a community contest may help improve the situation for the time being. Wednesday is the final day to vote for SVFD before the contest ends.

SVFD has been nominated by an unknown party to be one of many national contestants in the Chase Community Giving Program.

The program is a contest in which participants can go online and vote for the charity of their choice, and the charity with the most votes will receive the top prize of $250,000.

Other monetary prizes of varying degrees are also available for charities that place in the top 195 spaces.
