It was nothing short of a wild west shootout with a total of 11 touchdowns scored, but in the end the Seymour Eagles (4-0, 1-0) came out on top with a fourth straight victory of 42-34 over the Carter Hornets (2-2).
The Eagles were in unfamiliar territory as they had built a 21-point lead early. Carter wasn’t giving up, however, as they came storming back. Their potential game-tying score at the end of the game was stopped on a spectacular interception by cornerback D.J. Griffin.
The first Seymour scoring drive was highlighted by a 56-yard touchdown run by Tanner Sise. J.J. Jerman was good on the PAT, and the Eagles led 7-0 early.
Seymour then surprised everyone in the stadium with a high onside kick, which the Eagles recovered.
