Throughout the years the Sevier County Fair has become a tradition unto itself, but event officials say this year will have a special emphasis all its own.

“Because this is a local fair, you can go and see things you can only see once a year,” said Sevier County Fair Director Sherri Crawford. “It’s about keeping the tradition of Sevier County alive.”

For Crawford, the tradition of Sevier County is largely based on an agrarian lifestyle.

To emphasize this farming tradition, the fair will host of number of related events such as poultry show, a youth barn dance, a lawnmower pull, a Dixie Stampede ‘Whoadeo,’ a watermelon seed spitting contest, and storytelling by Bill Landry from “The Heartland Series”.
