With Mitt Romney’s recent selection of Paul Ryan to the Republican Presidential ticket and the Republican National Convention garnering a hurricane of enthusiasm, area political parties are joining in the excitement.

Both Ray H. Jenkins, Knox County Republican Chairman, and Rob Bremer, who recently stepped down as Sevier County Tea Party chairman, are excited about the Republican nominee.

“Governor Romney and Congressman Ryan have pledged to make real reductions in spending and borrowing,” Jenkins said. “They have proposed smart tax reductions, targeted to spur investing and job creation.”

Bremer said some of the positions the Sevier County Tea Party would like to see put into the forefront of Romney’s campaign are repealing the Affordable Healthcare Act, using free market economy solutions, and a return to the gold standard.
