A new speed limit was approved in a landslide vote during the Aug. 20 Sevier County Commission meeting.

The resolution sets the speed limit in the Cherokee Hills subdivision to 25 miles per hour. The current 30 MPH speed limit for Cherokee Hills Dr. will remain unchanged.

In addition, a 20 MPH speed limit was set for Bause Watson Ln. and Deerfield Park mobile home park will be restricted to speeds of 25 MPH.

The Sevier County Commission consented the speed limit adoption was done in the interest of public safety.
