For many people teens are often thought to require a special amount of attention, but one Seymour teenager is turning his attention to community service.

Joshua Goldstein, 14, said he first joined Boy Scouts as a way to make friends and to strengthen his social skills.

“I was a very shy child and Boy Scouts has helped me a lot,” Goldstein said.

Since joining Boy Scouts three years ago, Goldstein has moved up the rank of Life Scout and earned 21 merit badges, which includes 12 Eagle badges.
