Since Seymour is unincorporated and therefor lacks a city pool, many residents have been wondering just what the swimming status in the area is.

According to the Sevier County Property Assessor’s office, there are currently 193 in-ground pools in District 9, 22 in District 10 and 17 in District 6, making the total number of in-ground pools for Seymour’s total of 6,629 land parcels 232.

Sevier County Planner Jeff Ownby said although the County does document the number of in-ground pools, there is no record of the number of aboveground pools.

“Aboveground pools can be set-up and taken down, so it is not something that requires a permit,” Ownby said.  “That’s not something we keep track of.”
