A six month long project aimed to improve KUB service in and near the Seymour area is in full swing this month.

According to KUB officials, 43 wooden poles which line Chapman Hwy. from Hendrons Chapel Substation to the Shooks Gap Substation at Parrott St., which is about two and one-half miles in total distance, will be replaced with steel poles.

“The project will increase the capacity and reliability of the Seymour, Shooks Gap, and Kodak-Russell Substations to better serve the growing load in the areas of Northern Sevier County and Southeastern Knox County,” said Engineering Manager Gabriel Bolas.

Bolas added steel poles have many advantages over the wooden ones being replaced.
