Another unfortunate result of a stagnating economy is a rising crime rate, so to help combat this threat local authorities are taking extra precautions.

In addition to normal patrol units, a special Sevier County Sheriff’s Department squad has been created to specifically keep a lookout for Seymour businesses.

“It is a large area down there and we need to make sure we have sufficient coverage,” said SCSD Captain Michael Hodges.  “We have two officers dedicated to patrolling the businesses in Seymour.”

Davin Smith is the daytime officer, while Brian Ramsey patrols during the night hours.
