Since receiving the SAFER grant from the Federal Government, Seymour Volunteer Fire Department officials have been researching how to best utilize the funding.

While the SAFER grant provides allotments for designated improvements, the details as to how to enact these improvements depends on what specifics SVFD members put into motion.

Right now the department has two main goals for the grant money they received through the SAFER (Staffing for Adequate Fire Emergency Response) grant.

The first is to create a specific list of duties for the paid SAFER coordinating and to also inform the public there is a position available.
