Despite the ever altering world of politics, the one constant in every election season is it takes money to run a campaign, and with the Aug. 2 Primary Election upon us candidates are working hard to rally voters to the polls.

Through the 2012 local primary State Senator Doug Overbey and his challenger Scott Hughes, as well as, State Representative Richard Montgomery and his challenger Dale Carr have all been spending significant amounts of money to get their respective messages out to voters.

Of all the candidates Overbey has spent the most for the pre-primary season.

“People of Blount and Sevier Counties have generously donated to my campaign,” Overbey said. “We have been effective with our expenditures as a reflection of our values.”
