Generally, the election in November garners more attention than any primary, but Seymour and Sevier County residents are showing early enthusiasm by casting their votes in the Primary Election.

As of last week less than 800 Sevier County residents had voted and since then that number has more than tripled.

According to the Sevier County Election Commission, 2,764 votes, which included 95 absentee ballots, have been cast as of July 23.

“Nearly 3,000 have voted in Blount County as well as Sevier and that is tremendous,” said State Senator Doug Overbey, who is running for reelection for the 2nd District seat he holds. “I encourage everybody to continue to take full advantage of early voting.”
