A 42-year-old Walland man was killed in a two vehicle accident last Thursday night on Laws Chapel Road.

Terry C. Branton, 42, McClanahan Lane, Walland, was pronounced dead at Blount Memorial Hospital following the accident. The driver of the other vehicle, Susan J. Rutherford, Hughes Loop Road, Maryville, was taken by personal vehicle to Blount Memorial Hospital.

The accident occurred shortly after 9 p.m. Thursday.

According to Blount County Sheriff’s Office officials, Branton was traveling south on Laws Chapel Road north of Wilkinson Pike in a 1996 Pontiac Grand Am when he crossed the center line and struck Rutherford, driving a 2010 Dodge Journey, who was traveling north on Laws Chapel Road.
