Another round of storms hit Seymour and surrounding areas Tuesday evening and for one resident the results were life altering.

Between 6 and 6:30 p.m. a house located on Arkansas Ave. ignited in a blaze after the roof was struck by lightning.

“I was out of town with my children for an AAU basketball game in Nashville and I knew my wife was at work when it happened,” said homeowner Don Brown. “It sounds silly, but my biggest concern at the time was our two dogs.”

Serious damage was caused to the inside of the home due to the fire. (The Herald/ Joe King)

Brown said one neighbor from across the street rescued the dogs before the fire cause any serious damage.
