A two vehicle accident on Wears Valley Rd. resulted in the death of three travelers from Georgia July 7.

According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, at approximately 6:42 a.m. a 2011 Ford Ranger was traveling an estimated 45 miles-per-hour in the south lane of Wears Valley Rd. as a 2011 four-door Honda Civic approached traveling north. The Ranger then drove onto the wrong side of the road and smashed into the Civic.

The driver of the Civic, 26-year-old Ashish Dembla, as well as passengers Satpal Dembla, 57, and Anjali Dembla, 51, were killed in the accident. All three were Atlanta residents.

The third passenger in the Civic, 20-year-old Kankia Dembla, survived with injuries and was transported to UT Medical Hospital.
