The Grandfather Mountain Interpretive Ranger Staff is organizing several special programs for Grandfather Mountain guests this July.  The ranger programs are a mixture of many new ideas coupled with some returning programs that provide participants of all ages and interests with a fun and educational opportunity.

Returning from last year is the “Orienteering” program.  This activity is perfect for boy scouts and others that are interested in learning the basics of orienteering and woodland navigation.  Always a favorite among guests, orienteering programs allow guests to really benefit from the expert knowledge of Grandfather’s Interpretive Rangers.

“Most of the events are brand new,” said Gabriel Taylor, chief interpretive ranger at the Grandfather Mountain Stewardship Foundation. “These events are family oriented and are appropriate for any age.”

One of these new programs is the “Peaks and Stories Around Us” program.  Here guests learn all about the peaks around Grandfather Mountain and the stories and history that make the area unique.
