Even before the Supreme Court’s decision to rule in favor of The Patient Protection and Affordable Healthcare Act (PPACA) which has been informally referred to as Obamacare, the controversial law had been a major concern for law makers on both sides of the aisle.
Now that the mandate has been deemed constitutional under a tax clause, many conservative legislators are working to repeal the act and local U.S. Representative Phil Roe isn’t shying away from the cause.
“The court’s ruling gives renewed urgency to our efforts to repeal this law,” Roe said. “If we allow its full implementation, our health care decisions will forever be in the hands of Washington bureaucrats.”
Roe, who represents Tennessee’s First District—which includes Sevier County, is a former practicing doctor and opponent of the new legislation for numerous reasons.
