The Great Smoky Mountains National Park experienced another monthly increase in visitation this year.
The visitation for the Month of May was up 10 percent this year compared to the numbers of May 2011.
Year to date visitation is up 13.5 percent which works out to 329,712 more people frequenting the park than January through April 2011.
All of the park’s three main entrances had increased visitation during May—Gatlinburg was up 9.1 percent, Townsend increased by 13.3 percent, and the Cherokee entrance saw a boost of 11.5 percent.
