Representative Phil Roe (The Herald/ Joe King)

Representative Phil Roe, who is the two-term Representative for Sevier County and the rest of Tennessee’s first district, recently stopped by the office of the Herald Newspapers in Seymour to sit down for an interview.

Roe, a former Mayor of Johnson City, discussed local and national issues as well as his reelection plans.

One thing Roe has been doing to better serve his district is to create a weekly report that focuses on people who need assistance in the area, but don’t know where to turn.

“This doesn’t have anything to do with being Democrat, Republican, or Independent,” he said. “It has to with helping our neighbors down the street who are suffering and how we can go through and help them get the benefits they have earned, but don’t know they can get.”
