As expected during the summer months, Medic Regional Blood Center is in need of blood donations.

“Blood centers across the nations deal with shortage during the summer.  Donations traditionally decrease while the need for blood has the tendency to increase mainly due to an increase in traffic and recreation,” states Christi Fightmaster, Medic spokesperson.

Medic partners with Chick-fil-A and the Tennessee Smokies this time of year to help entice donors to roll up their sleeve.   All donors will receive a coupon for a free chicken sandwich and there is a weekly drawing for a pair of Tennessee Smokies tickets.

Donors can visit either 1601 Ailor Avenue or 11000 Kingston Pike in Farragut, or stop by a community blood drive.  Look for upcoming community drives in the Herald’s Community Calendar on page B3.
