A tractor trailer that was traveling south on Chapman Highway ran off of the road and crashed into a ditch at about 9:30 a.m. June 12.

The accident occurred near the cross-street of W. Marine Rd., which is near John Sevier Hwy.

“I thought it was thunder,” said Bill Cardwell, who lives on W. Marine Rd and was at home with his granddaughter Ally when the accident happened.

According to Tennessee Highway Patrol officer Ryan Stoffel, the driver appeared to have some minor injuries and was transported to UT Medical Hospital by a Rural-Metro ambulance.
