Significant changes in both revenue and expenditures for the 2012-2013 Sevier County School budget shaped the presentation meeting held May 29.

At the meeting Dr. Jack Parton, Director of Schools, and Karen King, Assistant Superintending of Finance and Human Resources, explained some of the changes to the newly proposed budget.

“The state government is very aware Sevier County is an anomaly,” Parton said. “They are still coming up with a different way to think about Sevier County.”

The characteristic Parton was referring to is the fact that a majority of Sevier County’s funding comes from taxes collected through the tourist industry.
