With Mitt Romney the sure Republican challenger to incumbent President Barack Obama, the major parties of both Sevier and Knox County are rallying behind their respective candidate.
Although area Democrats and Republicans disagree on how to address many of the nation’s problems, one thing they do agree on is the economy is going to be the major issue this election.
“Romney’s prior experience with individual entrepreneur-style business will improve the economy much better than the socialist approach Obama prefers,” said Sonny Coane, Chairman of the Sevier County Republican Party.
While Coane and many other Republican believe the best way to grow an economy is through the free market and with little government intervention, most Democrats would rather the government take control of the economy.
