The Seymour Lady Eagle softball team’s season came to a shocking early ending at the TSSAA State Tournament in Murfreesboro last week after losing two games the first day. It was in stark contrast to a fourth place state finish one year ago.

In the morning game Coffee County routed the Lady Eagles 12-2 as their bats were scorching hot while Seymour managed only two runs on three hits.

One run came on a solo homerun by Kerigan Newport.  The other run was scored by Newport on a wild pitch.

Seymour had Celeste Whaley in the circle but the outstanding pitcher struggled from the start as the Lady Eagles trailed 7-0 in the third inning. Things didn’t get any better as the Lady Raiders added five more runs before it was over.
