Three businesses and individuals were cited with selling alcohol to a person under age 21 in a recent alcohol compliance check in Blount County.

The Blount County Sheriff’s Office, Blount County District Attorney General’s Office, Maryville Police Department, Alcoa Police Department, and the Fifth Judicial Drug Task Force partnered with the Blount County Substance Abuse Prevention Action Team (SAPAT) in an effort to reduce underage drinking.

This partnership led to a multijurisdictional countywide alcohol compliance check that began May 9, and concluded May 24.

During this operation, 31 alcohol retailers were checked for compliance, and three were cited with selling alcohol to a person under age 21. The businesses and individuals were:
