Plans to improve the economy and maintain a healthy environment are top priorities for Sevier County legislators.

According to Sevier County Mayor Larry Waters, continued improved efficiency can be achieved by working through the budget and using the available funds responsibly.

“We have made a lot of progress so far,” he said. “Just look at our schools. I would put them up against any others in the state of Tennessee.”

Waters, who had been both the principal and a teacher at Jones Cove Elementary before taking office, has been the mayor of Sevier County for 34 years.
