Jordan and Chelsea Tarwater, siblings from Sevier County, received awards at the Maryville College Academic Awards Ceremony held April 14 on the campus of the liberal arts college.

Jordan Tarwater, a 2009 graduate of Sevier County High School who is now majoring in religion at the College, was awarded the Hall “Ethical Thinking” Award, which is presented annually to a member of the junior class whose creative or practical essay on ethical thinking on a particular theme from a variety of perspectives could be published in a journal or magazine.

Chelsea Tarwater, a 2010 graduate of Sevier County High School who is now majoring in English for teacher licensure, was presented with the Best Prose Award for an outstanding submission to Impressions, the campus literary magazine.

Jordan and Chelsea are the son and daughter of Michael and Pamela Tarwater of Sevierville.
