The Sevier County Choral Society will present its Spring Concerts on May 18 and 20. This year, the first half of each concert features what has traditionally been known as the Easter section of Handel’s Messiah.

The second half of the concert will feature several popular pieces including: “The River is Wide,” “Deep River,” “We are the Music.”

A highlight of the concert will be a solo presented by Meghan Mayes, Knoxville Choral Society’s Young Classical Music Vocal Award Winner 2012. Meghan is currently a sophomore at Seymour High School. She plans to pursuing a degree in Vocal Performance with a minor in Education or Theater at the University of Tennessee upon graduation from high school in 2014.

Both concerts are free to the public. A donation collection container will be available at the door. These donations are used to support the Choral Society and its scholarship program for high school students, such as Meghan who participate with the group in rehearsals and singing engagements.
