All too often, the labyrinth which is politics leads us down a winding path that focuses more on pandering to voters rather than balancing issues equally.

Although the approval rating of congress continues to sink, this sense of imbalance is not isolated to the national scale. In fact, imbalanced priorities were alive and well at the most recent Sevier County Commission meeting.

Despite the fact that a serious amount of discussion was awarded to a rezoning issue concerning Smoky Mountain Firearms, hardly any attention was given to any other resolutions brought forth.

While I am by no means diminishing the relevance of any debate in which a legislative body and a local business work together to resolve an issue, I find it incredible how all other proposals were given less attention than one normally gives to a yawn.
