Medic Regional Blood Center is currently experiencing a critical blood shortage, and therefore, struggling to meet the needs of 27 hospitals located throughout East Tennessee and Southeast Kentucky.

“Collections have been low for us and the need from our area hospitals have been on the rise. We are operating on a one day supply of blood” said Christi Fightmaster, Director of Public Relations.

Medic is the only provider of blood for 21 counties and depends on volunteer donors to take the time to donate blood.

All donors will receive Medic’s Family Blood Coverage. This coverage program exempts donors and their IRS dependents from paying blood processing fees if a transfusion is needed within a year of the donation date.
