During Monday’s Sevier County Commission Meeting commissioners deliberated on a rezoning issue regarding a nearby shooting range.
Smoky Mountain Firearms, located in Kodak, began as a retail firearms and gunsmith shop operating out of William Lacy’s home garage. Lacy said he soon saw an opportunity to expand his business into a shooting range.
“After I got certified I checked with the State regulations and updated everything to code,” Lacy said. “I was told I needed a zoning letter from Sevier County and that was when I found out I had to have it rezoned.”
Lacy then brought forward a request to have Parcel areas 073.23, 073.24, and 073.25 rezoned from an agricultural district to a rural commercial district.
