A home located at 201 Maryville Highway was engulfed by flames early Tuesday afternoon.

The Seymour Volunteer Fire Department worked in conjunction with both Blount and Sevier County Fire Departments to battle the fire. The Sevier County Sheriff’s Department and the Sevier County Ambulance Service were also on the scene.

According to neighbor Ken Canup, a resident of the home was able to escape from the structure before the flames overwhelmed the structure.

“I walked up when I heard the first fire engine,” Canup said. “The flames must have been about 25-feet or 30-feet high when I saw it.
