Seymour’s Rotary Club has announced its fourth annual ‘Ride to Provide’ motorcycle benefit.
Proceeds from the event will go to Rotary Club of Infanta in Quezon, Philippines.
“My wife has had a mission in Infanta since 2002,” said Jack Funderbunk, an organizer for the benefit. “Malnourishment in children is an epidemic in Infanta and we would like to see it eradicated.”
The ride will start at 1 p.m. at Knoxville Harley-Davidson West, 605 Lovell Road, and end 43 miles down the road at 420 Robert Henderson Road in Sevierville, approximately one hour later.
Hamburgers, hotdogs, and live music will be provided to participants once they reach their destination. A drawing for prizes will also take place at the dinner.
“There will be a lot of door prizes at this event,” Funderbunk said.
A 50/50 drawing will divide proceeds between a lucky winner and the hunger campaign.
“All proceeds designated for the hunger campaign will go directly to the Rotary Club in Infanta,” Funderbunk said. “They will use the money to directly purchased food for malnourished children in the area.”
He added that all of the food purchased is monitored by a doctor for dietary quality.
The entry fee is $20 for rider and $15 for passengers. Each rider will also receive a t-shirt as a souvenir.
