Ober Gatlinburg’s forced opening delay due to warm weather finally ended thanks to recent cold nights.

After an unusually warm holiday season, Ober Gatlinburg opened on Tuesday thanks to temperatures that finally dipped below freezing.With their normal pre-Christmas opening date pushed back thanks to weather too warm to produce snow, the attraction finally caught a break when recent nighttime temperatures dropped low enough to powder the slopes.

Castle Run, Cub Way and the Ski School slopes opened at noon on Tuesday, with snow tubing at 11 a.m.  Night skiing and snowboarding kicked off at 6 p.m.
Although warmer temperatures have been forecasted, Ober officials plan to open more slopes soon as they keep producing more snow on the colder nights.
