Last weekend, the Seymour High School Jazz Band got a leg up on spreading holiday cheer.
On Saturday, the band, “Green Eggs and Jazz,” thrilled the children at the Smoky Mountain Children’s Home with a Christmas concert.  
Richard Mann, with the band boosters, said they also delivered boxes of extra fruit, donated personal items, toys, books and paper products.
“Besides sounding great, they really did a fantastic job in uplifting the spirits of the kids at the home,” he said.
The band also showed their appreciation for the Seymour Volunteer Fire Department by dropping off a selection of coffee and snacks.  
Mann indicated that the firefighters hinted at having a performance, which the jazz band will keep in mind.
“It wasn't much, but it let those local heroes know that we care about them,” he said.  “I'm so proud of our kids and how they have approached this year.”
