The Seymour Eagle basketball team got a big win over IMAC opponent Cocke County at home in a close one 61-59.
The win makes the Blue and Gold 7-4 overall and 1-3 in the IMAC.  It was a well deserved win after some of the close Eagle losses already this season.
On a great evening for basketball with a newly renovated gym, student excitement, and a loud crowd at the Seymour High School Gym, the setting couldn’t get much better nor could the outcome if you were a Seymour fan.
Once again senior Logan Jenkins of the Eagles was the hero hitting a pair of pressure free throws with 6 seconds to go to give Seymour the win. Jenkins who recently signed to play baseball with LMU continues to win games for Seymour in the final seconds.
The Eagles outscored Cocke County by 3 points the final period to take the win.  Seymour connected on 6 of 6 from the charity line down the stretch from Logan Jenkins, Jake McBrayer and Robert Chesser.
Cocke County led most of the game but the Eagles came through when it counted in the fourth quarter which ended up being the only quarter the Eagles led at the end of the entire game.
Seymour was led in scoring again by Jenkins with 15.  The scoring leaders were followed by teammate Robert Chesser with 13; junior Peyton Lee with 10, Nick Sexton added 4 points while McBrayer and Gunner Gibson had 2 each.
The Eagles will travel next to Morristown East to face a very tough IMAC opponent.
