Blake Barnes, a senior defensive tackle for Maryville College, has been named to the 2011 All-South Region D3football.com third team for his efforts this season.
The three-time All-USA South performer from LaBelle, Florida was a pre-season All-American selection in a pair of publications this fall.
Barnes shared the MC sack lead with Jamie Owen with 4.5 sacks. He led the Scots with nine tackles for a loss while recording 24 unassisted stops and 35 assisted tackles on the season. His efforts helped Maryville to a 4-6 record while going 4-3 in USA South action for a fourth place league finish.
During his career, Barnes tallied 74 solo tackles with 94 assists for a total of 168 stops. He had stellar career numbers when attacking the opponent in the backfield. He recorded 34 career tackles for a loss and 15 career sacks costing the opponent over 230 yards in lost yardage.
