The April hail storms that cut a swath of destruction across the area left some scars that won’t seem to heal, despite the best efforts of automotive repair shops.
Back in June, Walker’s Automotive Collision Repair was backed up through January with hail damage claims.  Five months later, they keep working to get people back on the road.
“The list is actually shortening,” said owner Paul Walker.  “We’re working it down.”
With so many claims to be filed, most repair shops have been booked solid, leading some people to trade in their cars or go out of state for repairs.  But for Walker, even what progress they’ve made has been like swimming against the current.
“We’re still getting new claims everyday,” he said.  “I’d say probably five or six a day.”
With schedules so backed up, many people waited to file claims in hopes that the waiting list would be shorter.  That plan seems to have backfired, as Walker has close to 300 vehicles booked between now and next July.
The storms may be long over, but the damage will persist for some time to come.
